Seventeen years ago, Demetrious Jarvis found his purpose in life: to work with planes. Now, the Navy veteran is graduating with a degree in aerospace engineering and will work at Skunk Works – an organization that produces and develops aircraft designs.
Knowing the stress students were under this spring transitioning to virtual classes, Mathematics Associate Professor Jimmy Risk was looking for ways to relieve the pressure. So, he invited them to his island.
It All Adds Up
When Kimberly Gottula was growing up in Placentia, her mother made sure that books and math-oriented board games were always at the ready. She wanted her daughter not only to learn to read early but also to develop an affinity for numbers, to defy her older sister’s opinion that “math wasn’t for girls.”
Equipped to Lead
When a cross section of faculty signed on to learn how to make video tutorials, they had no idea how urgent their mission would become.
